The Insight Shop is home for workshops and special events designed to help you explore novel approaches to living well, connect with your creativity, and have fun in community. The Shop’s founder, Trisha Stotler, is a long-time Insight meditation instructor from Vienna, who had been looking for a way to share some of the lesser-known benefits of that practice with a wider audience.
“We spend a lot of time focusing on lowering stress, but the other benefits of slowing down and being present are equally important for health and happiness,” says Ms. Stotler. “Increasing our sense of joy and wonder, engaging in thought-provoking conversations, meeting interesting people and learning new things are all antidotes to stress and disconnection. In that sense, everything we do at The Insight Shop is a catalyst for living a more conscious, fully-engaged life.”
There is a robust schedule of offerings for adults throughout the year, as well as a growing number of classes for kids ages ten and up. In 2019, you’ll find a variety of writing, fiber & visual arts classes, mindfulness instruction for many different populations, storytelling and improv workshops, and special multi-class tracks for “decluttering” your life and talking about end-of-life issues.
The Shop also hosts a number of free events, including the popular Salon Series Dinners, Community Sings, Death Cafes and quarterly Friday Night Potluck Socials.
