Teen Retreat: Less Stress, More Happy

We get it – being a kid today is different in so many ways from previous generations. So much so, that when teen says “You just don’t understand!” it’s really possible that they’re right. But while things like technology and the ways we communicate have changed, the most fundamental elements of happiness have stayed the same. What if true happiness in life had little to do with GPA, popularity, and proficiency at sports and music, and a LOT to do with resilience, confidence, compassion and gratitude? What if hard work, when combined with letting go of expectations, actually improved performance? These findings are cause for a big exhale, but it does take practice, and a little bit of patience to re-wire our brains to this new way of living.
This three-hour retreat is especially designed for teens, to learn and practice the skills of the truly happy person. We’ll focus on mindful awareness practices that are proven to neurologically reduce stress and calm anxiety. We’ll show you how actually “being in your body” during difficult times reduces the duration of unhappiness, and how to communicate with others in a way that leads to understanding (instead of repeating endless cycles of disconnect or arguing).
