Tuesday Meditation and Discussion Group (Drop-In)
Tuesday, May 28 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 7:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until Tuesday, May 28, 2019
This weekly group provides you with three important supports for thriving in this crazy world:
- Regular time for formal meditation and reflection
- A community of like-minded people, who might also challenge you to expand your horizons a bit
- An opportunity to ask important questions, and participate in shared dialogue with others
These sessions will be facilitated by Trisha Stotler, who is a senior teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington and is fluent in contemplative practices from many different traditions. People from all backgrounds are encouraged to attend. You need only to be committed to personal growth, and open to being changed by your experience. Join us!
Doors open at 7:00 for those who want to arrive early to socialize. Tea will be on, and you may bring food and eat during this time. We’ll have some snacks available…
7:30 – Participants briefly check in, appx. 30 minutes of meditation (mostly in silence), appx. 45 minutes of discussion on topics pertaining to the work of “living your practice.” Some resources you might find especially relevant are Christine Valters Paintner on “Being a Monk in the World” and the ecumenical Charter for Compassion.
Discussion may be wide-ranging, but must be anchored in your personal experience. We follow some simple-yet-helpful guidelines for group discussions that keep us on track and respectful of everyone’s time.
*These sessions are offered by donation. All funds will support the work of The Insight Shop.*
